é o novo livro de Douglas Thomas e de John Seely Brown. vai ainda demorar um tempo até que me chegue às mãos, mas até lá há os capítulos que os autores disponibilizaram (newcultureoflearning.pdf) e as reviews e entrevistas que vão sendo publicadas.
uma que gostei de ler foi a entrevista realizada pelo Henry Jenkins, autor do Confessions of an Aca-Fan .nesta entrevista são abordados (entre outros) os conceitos de “collectives” vs. “communities” e que achei interessante. dizem os autores que:
“Collectives, as we use the term, have nothing to do with the politics or economics of socialism. Instead what we are trying to capture is the formation of new institutional structures that are radically different from more traditional notions of community."
"One of the key contrasts we need to draw is between notions of communities and collectives. Communities are institutions that are designed to facilitate a sense of belonging. Collectives are institutions that facilitate individual agency. (...) Collectives are more social platforms than social entities. Communities may form within a collective, but they need not form in order for the collective to function."
"The key point is that because collectives are agency driven, they form the perfect environment for the cultivation of imagination. In other words, the collective amplifies what i can do by tapping its collective experience (...) and a new sense of cultivation, one where the collective itself is committed to making the individual better."
